Sony XAV-AX5000 Operating Guide

 

Hello,

 

The recent Apple iOS 12.4 and 12.4.1 patch are causing a hiccup with CarPlay compatibility.

The update is turning off some features needed to make CarPlay automatic and the update is not seeing previously known vehicles in the short term memory cache of the iPhone.

 

For iPhone 8 and earlier the process is simple.

-settings

  -general

    -CarPlay

      -my cars

        -tap each known car and forget

-restart the phone

 

For any version of iPhone X including xs,xr and Max versions there are a few more steps.

-All of the above steps for clearing known vehicles

  -settings

    -face ID and passcode

      -USB accessories while locked-needs turned on

-settings

  -Siri and search

    -listen for “hey Siri” and allow Siri when locked need turned on

-settings

  -general

    -reset

      -reset network settings- this will reset some passwords on apps so make sure the client remembers their login. Phone will shut down and restart

-RESTART the phone a second time, tap volume up tap volume down and press and hold the power button until the Apple logo appears.

 

This has been working for us and the procedures cover the XAV-AX1000, XAV-AX3000 and XAV-AX5000 models.
